What exactly is “Aerial Circus”?
Aerial circus is a name we came up with for a class involving aerial arts, namely leaning tricks and moves on the static trapeze and on silks. The classes also include other strengthening techniques involving preparation and execution of these forms.

What is a typical day like in the Aerial Circus Camp?
During the camp, the children have a class in static trapeze, silks, core strength and flexibility, miming, acting and performance..and more!

Is Aerial Circus safe for my child?

Absolutely. We have professional level mats and experienced instructors who know how to spot properly and manage children carefully and one at a time. The kids never are expected to do or attempt anything that they aren’t comfortable with and are fully supported with personal needs by our warm faculty.

Will this camp offer my child exercise or a “work out”?

Absolutely! These aerial arts are more strenuous than they look! The children will be happily exhausted by the end of the day and proud of their new accomplishments! The upper body strength required in learning these art forms will aid them in many other sports or arts that they are involved in. Especially while living the NYC lifestyle, this wonderful camp allows them to experience being upside down, balancing, and floating in the air! The kids LOVE it.

What does my child need to wear?

Your child should wear tight fitting dance, gymnastic, or work out clothes. A leotard and stretch pants is the best choice. Hair pulled neatly back. Must go over their knees and tight all the way to the ankles. Any style/color is fine. Be creative!

Do we bring lunch or is it provided?

We take a lunch break during the camp. You have the choice of bringing a packed lunch for your child, or sending them with money to get pizza and a drink across the street. Please let us know any dietary issues. We also recommend that you bring a water bottle for your child.

Does my child need experience?
No! Your child does not need any former experience to take our camps. There are a limited number of students in these classes which allow for each student to work directly with the teacher, allowing flexibility for each student to improve at their own pace! Also in aerial, children can learn tricks specified to their level.

DancePerformance/
Audition Camp 2014

AUGUST 25TH – AUGUST 30TH

$550

We will be offering a Performance audition camp. This is a great opportunity for young dancers wanting to get more information about what to expect before, during and after an audition. With so many professional opportunities, arts middle and high schools auditions, even talent show auditions in the city, this camp helps teach you how to show your best self and book the gig! Taught by Broadway, television and stage professionals, Broadway and Off Broadway Performers and more. The kids learn the ins and outs of becoming a better dancer and performer and for auditions within dance and musical theater. We discuss resumes, what to wear, how to present themselves and stand out within a group. There will also be a talent agent there to answer any questions the kids might have about being part of such a competitive industry.

Daily Monday-Friday

10:30am-3:30pm
Ages 8-16
$550/Week

What is a typical day like in the Performance/Audition Dance Camp?
The students will begin each day with a technique class or a lecture class where they were learn valuable industry information that prepare them for a wide variety of auditions. Technique classes in Jazz, Hip Hop, Leaps & Turns, and Performance quality will help the kids prepare for the physical component of any audition . Lecture Classes covering stage make up, performance ready hair, acting and emoting on stage, audition room ettiquite and attitude, and mini lecture on overcoming fear and stage fright.  The students will have a lunch break. Towards the end of the camp week, they will experience auditioning and mock auditioning in front of field professionals, and enjoy a healthy competition while learning how to stand out!

Will this camp offer my child exercise or a “work out”?

Absolutely! The technique classes will leave your child sweaty and stretched, and the lectures will leave your child intellectually stimulated and excited about auditioning.

What does my child need to wear?

Dance wear and hair pulled back neatly. Leotards and dance pants works. Ballet and jazz shoes.

Your child does not need formal dance experience for this camp, although some experience will be helpful. Most classes will be taught at an “open level”, which is suitable for beginners, but allows the teachers flexibility in challenging the more advanced students. This is a great intensive workshop for children who are currently taking more than one class per week. We ask that all children come with an open mind and a positive learning attitude.
