Young Dancers Program

Bridge For Dance offers a wide variety of classes for children from age three through the teen years.

Our classes range from creative movement, pre-ballet, ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, jazz, aerial circus, hip hop, and more.

Our students learn the fundamentals of dance within the realm of a solid classical platform, starting in Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet. Bridge For Dance classes are perfect for the student who desires challenging classical pre-professional training, or the student who is hoping to have fun in a healthy and encouraging environment.

We provide a balanced and emotionally supportive environment in which each student feels important, safe, and inspired to flourish in their own way. A small student-to-teacher ratio allows much more personal attention for each student and for the staff the opportunity to know each family personally, giving our space an open and friendly feel.

The Young Dancers Program is a year-long program with weekly classes scheduled from September to May, ending with an exciting Recital whereby the children get a chance to perform what they’ve learned.

In addition, a variety of camps and workshops are also available during various holidays.

Make-Up Class Policy

We strongly encourage the highest level of commitment, consistency, and timeliness to most greatly benefit your child in the growth and development of their training, but we do understand that there are circumstances where missing class is inevitable. We try every year to make our policy as fair as possible, regarding the number of make-ups per child. Please read the details below and don’t hesitate to call if you have questions or would like to schedule your child’s make-ups. 212 749 1165

Absences/Sick days

Maximum (sick day) absences to make up per semester (in addition to the holiday make-ups)are two. Please call ahead and let us know if your child will not be attending the class. If your child is absent for more than two weeks in a row, we will call you to follow up on their current status. Too many absences could result in them not being included in our May Recital! So please don’t miss it! If your child is injured, they are welcome to come and observe the classes.

Holiday Make-Up Classes

We invite and encourage every student to try any class of their choice during their current semester to make up for classes missed during the scheduled holidays. We allow two-holiday make-up classes per child per semester, in addition to any sick days or other absences they might have.

Make-up classes do not roll into the following semester of classes. Scheduling make-up classes earlier rather than later is always suggested! So please call the office to schedule make-ups as soon as possible!

  • In-School Workshops/Assemblies

We have a wonderful faculty and network of the best dancers and dance companies in New York City. We would love to bring professional dance educators and/or dance companies to the school/organization for special performances, rehearsal observations, and/or workshops. Please contact Bridge for Dance to find out more about this wonderful opportunity!

  • In Studio Classes/Workshops

Currently, we have a lovely class of preschool children who join us on Monday mornings for an in-studio, creative movement class from The Rita Gold Early Childhood Center, a program through Teachers College of Columbia University. Many of the students who were introduced to us through this program are now also students in our Young Dancers Program to the class curriculum and we encourage our experienced, educated instructors to work closely with the school coordinators and teachers to create the most efficient and relevant curriculum.

  • We offer a wide variety of outreach programs at affordable rates to schools and organizations.
